Most Common Questions
1. What is homecare?
Homecare is a service to ill or recovering individuals needing medical treatment in their homes. Homecare is generally appropriate whenever a person requires care and prefers to stay home to receive it and it cannot easily or effectively be provided solely by family and friends. The homecare philosophy is health care at home is where it should be and is preferred over institutional and/or hospital settings. Homecare is available under a doctor's supervision for people who are normally unable to leave their home without assistance and need short-term or intermittent nursing care. Registered nurses or home health aides visit the home under the supervision of the patient's doctor and provide such services as administrating medications, dressing changes, taking vital signs, assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, etc. and other nursing duties. Homecare services can also be performed, if desired, in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
2. How do I arrange for homecare services?
A telephone call to one of our offices will start your request or inquiry for services; just speak to our Office Coordinator, Staffing Supervisor, or Chief Operating Officer. Each member of our staff is a person with at least 10 years homecare experience. After a brief conversation with you, he or she will be able to make a recommendation as to what steps to follow.

6. How much time will the nurse or aide spend with the patient?
Homecare visits can be from 2 to 24 hours. Each patient has different medical requirements, therefore, our time with each patient is based upon their individual needs.
7. How do you know what type of person will come in to our home?
Every attempt is made to assign personnel who are familiar with each patient's cultural and social environment within their own neighborhood. Personnel are chosen to work for Delta Homecare only if they have demonstrated a high degree of professional competence. Each employee must pass a written examination and complete an approved training program prior to ANY direct patient contact. All employees have their references thoroughly checked, pass a comprehensive physical examination and are insured. A criminal background check is also performed on all personnel.
8. Do you supervise your employees?
Yes, the paraprofessional homecare workers are all employees of Delta Homecare and we supervise them in a variety of ways. First and foremost, we have instituted a daily check from our local office staff. This unique service means that, every day (including holidays, weekends, and nights ), phone calls are made to clients to insure that our paraprofessional is on time and performing the assigned tasks according to the Plan of Care. In addition our field nurses visit the patient regularly to monitor patient care and ensure the proper placement of employees. All homecare workers are required to call in and out when they arrive and depart a client home.
9. Who supervises your service?
Delta Homecare is a Georgia Department of Human
Resources licensed health care agency and strict requirements must be followed in order to maintain our certification. We are also an approved Community Care Services Program and Source Program provider. In Alabama, each state program monitors compliance of homecare providers with state mandated criteria
